Payment & Finance at Kowhai Vet
At Kowhai Vet, we know how much your pet’s health and happiness mean to you. We also understand that unexpected veterinary costs can be stressful.
Unlike human healthcare, there is no public health system with taxpayers funding treatment for animals, so pet owners are responsible for covering the cost of veterinary care.
We aim to be transparent about treatment costs and will discuss estimates with you before proceeding. If you have concerns about affordability, please talk to us before treatment begins.
Payment Options
We accept the following payment methods:
✔ Cash
✔ EFTPOS
✔ Credit Card (excluding AMEX)
As a small business, we are unable to offer in-house credit, but we provide a range of finance options to help spread the cost of care.
Finance & Payment Plans
To make veterinary care more manageable, we offer the following payment solutions:
VetCare Finance: A flexible loan option for veterinary expenses: Loans available from $500 – $15,000 Quick 5-minute application, pre-approval within 12 hours No deposit, up to 24 months to repay Direct payment to the clinic |
PetFunders Loan: Easy payment over 3, 6, 9, 12 months Split payments into manageable instalments Loans available from $700-$10,000 Direct payment to the clinic |
AfterPay: A simple, interest-free payment plan: Split payments into manageable instalments Easy application process Instant approval decision |
Pet Insurance & Direct Payments
Pet insurance can provide peace of mind by covering unexpected veterinary costs. Kowhai Vet can submit claims directly to your pet insurance provider, provided:
- You sign a claim form authorising us to act on your behalf
- You agree to pay any remaining balance not covered by insurance (e.g., co-pays or rejected claims)
Pre-Payment Policy
While we appreciate the intention behind setting up a "rainy day" fund for your pet's care, Kowhai Vet does not accept pre-payments into our bank account. Managing these accounts requires significant administrative time and can create challenges for both clients and our business. Instead, we strongly recommend pet insurance, AfterPay, PetFunders, or VetCare Finance as more reliable ways to prepare for unexpected costs.
If you have any questions about payment or finance options, please don’t hesitate to ask our team. We’re here to help you provide the best possible care for your pet.
